Roulette is a game in casinos where people try to guess where a ball will end up on a spinning wheel. The Basic Rules
In roulette, the aim is to guess where the ball will stop on the wheel. The dealer spins the wheel one way and rolls the ball the other way. The wheel has 37 or 38 spots. You put your bets on the table before the spin. You can bet on one number, groups of numbers, colors, or if the number is odd or even.
The dealer tells who wins when the ball stops. Winners get their money, and ties lose. You must bet before the dealer says “no more bets” and should not touch your chips after that.
Types of Roulette Wheels
There are two main types of wheels in casinos: European and American. The European wheel has 37 spots (1-36 and a zero), giving the house a 2.7% edge. The American wheel has an extra double zero, making 38 spots and upping the house edge to 5.26%. Both wheels spread out high, low, odd, and even numbers for random play. Colors for numbers are red and black, with zeros in green.
Knowing the Table Layout
- The roulette table shows the wheel’s numbers. It has three parts: numbers 1-36 in twelve rows of three, with zeros.
- Outside the main part are spots to bet on sets, lines, even/odd, red/black, and ranges of numbers. These bets often pay less but win more.
Inside bets give you more money but are riskier, letting you bet on single numbers or mixes like two numbers, three in a row, four at a corner, or six in a line.
Common Betting Plans
- The Martingale plan is about doubling your bet after a loss to get back what you lost.
- The D’Alembert plan changes your bet by one unit with wins or losses.
- The Fibonacci plan uses a well-known number set to shift bets, going back two spots after a win.
Odds and Payouts
- A single number bet pays 35 to 1, but chances to win are small.
